This is a pulse tapping activity. The goal is to have your students experience “Beat” without telling them that they are demonstrating the Beat. Developing Beat skills will take all year for you students. You will be presenting Beat to the students in a future unit.
Try the following activities with your students.
Non-Locomotive Activities
Tap the pulse on their knees.
Tap the pulse on their laps
Tap the pulse on their heads
Pretend they have a hammer and tap the pulse on their shoes
Locomotive Activities
Walk to the pulse around the room by following the leader
Walk freely around the room to the pulse
