Sound Thinking Interactive is a great tool to enhance scaffolded learning in any general music classroom! It does not replace someone with a music degree in the classroom. It has cut down my prep work with the visuals already done and recording of the instructions/slides in English and Spanish so I can guide my students with ease. I love the representation of different cultures and communities with the guides in each level. I LOVE that it also includes printables for the worksheets in the writing lessons. They are put together well, showing different ways that students can show their learning of the skills. For kinder, there are also great writing connections (where they trace the music vocabulary). My campus teachers love how I am connecting to the skills in their rooms as well. Sound Thinking Interactive is an amazing tool that I’ve used with success in my music classroom!

I feel so grateful to have found Sound Thinking Interactive.  The program is set up to follow the Kodaly method of teaching music with the three “P’s”-Prepare, Present, Practice.  The Prepare and Practice segments are further broken down into individual lessons that make the process of teaching using this method straight forward.  The Prepare segment is broken down into kinesthetic, aural/oral, and visual.  This is done to reach the maximum capacity for effective mastery of the content.  If the students are unable to master the kinesthetic, then they are not ready for the next lesson-the aural/oral.  The same is true for the aural/oral preparation.

Sound Thinking Interactive allows my own musicianship to shine through and helps the students experience success the entire year. Each lesson is set up to create awareness of musical concepts; later developing into notation, practice, and even improvisation! I love that Sound Thinking has interactive features like pointing to icons, solfege practice, and audio examples. Visually, it’s a beautiful platform. No excessive special effects. Just simple, elegant music making.

I used to create Google Slides to go with my lessons, which took hours.  Sound Thinking has done all that work for me.  My student teachers, while not trained in Kodály, have been able to learn the curriculum and lead lessons with the help of these resources.  Many of them have expressed an appreciation for, and an interest in attending Kodály Certification Programs because of Sound Thinking Interactive.  Each lesson is organized and well thought out.  How and what the students are learning is irreplaceable.

Sound Thinking Interactive is a great resource for Kodály-trained teachers like myself. The visuals are wonderful, the website easy to navigate, with exceptional content. All the visual work I’d otherwise have to do is already done for me! I get to focus on getting my kids singing and making music. The slides in each lesson allow me to teach the content and keep an effective lesson pacing. So much good musical literacy learning is happening with my kids. I’m grateful for this instructional resource! It is the perfect digital companion to the songs and concepts I learned at music certification programs. I really appreciate having everything I need right at my fingertips! The time saving aspects, accessibility and user friendly features make it a worthwhile investment.
